Emdash Guide

What it does

Emdash is a workbench that does not include an AI agent of its own. It pulls together agent CLIs you have already installed and authenticated, letting you move across agents from more than 35 providers inside a single screen.

This role runs several brain-layer AIs at once and lets you watch and manage what each one is doing from a single screen. It matters most when AI is writing code across several branches of work at the same time.

When it fits

It fits a team that already runs several agent CLIs separately and wants to switch between them from one screen. It works best when the team can handle per-provider authentication and account setup on its own.

When it doesn't fit

The limitations below come from the vendor's own official documentation, not our evaluation. As of 2026-09-22

Emdash carries no agent of its own, so every CLI has to be installed and authenticated by hand, and some providers require a separate paid account. Coverage is also uneven: features like auto approve, resume, and hooks are only supported by a subset of its 35 providers.
