Blender MCP Guide

What it does

Blender MCP is a connector that lets an AI agent operate Blender, the 3D creation program, on your behalf. It turns plain-language instructions into code the agent runs inside Blender to build and adjust a 3D scene directly. Blender itself has no built-in AI connectivity, so this tool fills that gap.

This role has the AI produce visible output directly, like video, design drafts, or 3D scenes. It turns a script or plan a person wrote into an actual screen.

When it fits

Because it runs AI-generated code directly, it fits teams that can test it in an environment with no sensitive data or inside a virtual machine first. Teams that need 3D mockups or animation but don't have time to learn Blender from scratch use it to speed up 3D work through plain-language instructions.

When it doesn't fit

The limitations below come from the vendor's own official documentation, not our evaluation. As of 2026-09-22

Blender's own page carries a direct security warning: the server runs LLM-generated code inside Blender with no safeguards against data deletion or exfiltration, and it recommends confining it to a virtual machine or a system that holds no sensitive information. Running it also requires Blender 5.1 or newer plus three external tools that must be installed and run by hand, since Blender ships with no built-in LLM connectivity.
