Remotion Guide

What it does

Remotion is a framework for building video scenes as React components. You write code where values change over time, and the tool renders that code frame by frame into an actual video file. It is a coding tool for animation logic, not a point-and-click editor.

This role has the AI produce visible output directly, like video, design drafts, or 3D scenes. It turns a script or plan a person wrote into an actual screen.

When it fits

It fits workflows where you build a template once and swap in different values to produce many versions. You need a developer on the team with experience building screens in React to actually use it. A small for-profit organization with only a few employees can get started right away under the free license.

When it doesn't fit

The limitations below come from the vendor's own official documentation, not our evaluation. As of 2026-09-22

Commercial use is not automatically covered by the free license. The Free License applies to individuals, non-profits, and for-profit organizations with up to 3 employees; any larger for-profit company needs a separate paid Company License. The license file also notes that these terms will change slightly in Remotion 5.0.
